Course Delivery

At the moment your SKE course will be delivered 100% online. You will be sent reading and practical materials to help support the different modules.

You will be able to access the work in your spare time and in time that fits around your lifestyle. You will have access to course material, lessons and tutorials from any internet-enabled device. This makes our course extremely flexible.

You will be appointed a tutor, they will mentor you and give support through the different modules. You will also have different coaches who are teachers, delivering on different aspects of the subject knowledge.

Our Modules

Module 1

What is D&T, understanding the national curriculum KS1-3. Structure and progression, marking and assessment.
Module 2

Health, safety and hygiene. Online session with Mark Elwell, you will complete your core health & safety qualification. You will also complete your Health & Hygiene Level 2 certificate.
Module 3

This module is based solely on the delivery of KS3. We will look at specifically at - Food & Nutrition, Graphics & Architecture, Fashion & Textiles and Product Design. Each of these subjects will be studied over a week. You will have a range of materials, tools and equipment to complete mini practicals.
Module 4

KS4 Food & Nutrition, you will be taken through elements of the theory and also the NEA. How to structure and deliver. There will be examples of work to support you.
Module 5

KS4 Design & Technology, you will be taken through elements of the theory and also the NEA. How to structure and deliver. There will be examples of work to support you.
Module 6

This will be completed during the course. Following on from module 2 you will complete the face to face SMSH Workshop practises qualification, covering basic workshop tools and equipment. This will really set you apart at interview and allow you to work independently on equipment whilst on teaching practice.
